Distinct Salvage strives to use salvaged materials in order to reduce waste, and reduce the pollution of making new materials. When using new products I always use earth friendly and recyclable materials, but the majority of my materials are recycled and salvaged. New materials not only have to be put through processes that pollute, but consume shipping waste, and packaging waste. My Business

Distinct Salvaged opened in May 2008 and we strive to make an impact on the waste produced. Starting as at home projects, but has grown to share a vision of recycling while still maintaining great design techniques.

Who are We & Me

Well to begin with my name is Derick Figaro, and I live in Austin Texas . In the past couple of years I have been experimenting with different designs in furniture. After living Austin for six years, it has helped me see a new way of recycling. I've always enjoyed restoring old furniture, but now with Distinct Salvage I can really create and design freely.

As of right now I am the only one that works at Distinct Salvage, but I feel so connected to the generous people that have donated their things to help me with this company. The people in online communities(craigslist.org, freecycle.org), and neighborhoods across Austin, Tx have help with waste reduction. I feel connected to my communities and will always try my best to maintain the best relationship with both.
